Vancouver — Poor ground conditions in the newly discovered CT55 kimberlite pipe have forced Diamondex Resources (DSP-V) to mobilize a larger drill rig to the Carat claims in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
Following up on hole 1, which was abandoned in kimberlite at 70.1 metres down-hole, the second hole fell victim to the same fate at 70.7 metres down-hole. It hit kimberlite at 28 metres and remained in the body until ground conditions forced the abandonment of the hole.
Diamondex is arranging for a larger rig and expects the drilling to resume in about two weeks.
The Carat property lies 340 km northeast of Yellowknife and adjoins the Ekati diamond mine property to the north. Diamondex has a 60% interest and has elected to earn an additional 10% from Tyler Resources (TYS-V).
At the nearby Kelsey claims, Diamondex has selected three targets for drill-testing. The rig is expected to turn before the end of the month. Diamondex is earning a 60% stake in the property, which lies 300 km northeast of Yellowknife.
