Vancouver – Junior Aurora Platinum (ARP-V) has resumed drilling on the promising Footwall copper-nickel-platinum-palladium property near Sudbury, Ontario.
The 2,700-metre program is aimed at testing the immediate footwall and down-dip extensions of the Falconbridge, Falconbridge East and Cryderman mines for contact-type and footwall-breccia mineralization. Of particular interest are downhole geophysical conductors identified in three deep holes drilled last year in the Falconbridge and Falconbridge East mine areas. These conductors will be tested by additional geophysical surveys and by drilling.
Another area to be tested lies on the western part of the property, where a large portion of an intrusion contact between Inco’s (N-T) Garson mine and the Falconbridge mine has been underexplored. Historical drilling cut a number of copper-platinum-palladium veins in the east extension of the Garson fault, which is an important ore controlling structure at the Garson mine. Aurora plans on completed downhole geophysics on all the old holes and to drill test the existing targets.
The latest round of drilling, slated for completion in April, will be followed by an additional 8,500 metres of drilling.
Aurora can earn a 60% interest in the property from Falconbridge (FL-T) by spending $6 million over three years.
