Vancouver — The latest round of drill results on St. Jude Resources’ (SJD-V) Benso gold project in Ghana, are expected to add to the initial resource estimate now under way on the Subriso block.
The Benso concession is held 90% by St. Jude, and 10% by the Government of Ghana. The property covers the south end of the Ashanti gold belt and adjoins the company’s Hwini Butre concession to the north.
The company has focused exploration on the Subriso block in the area of the historic Subriso Gold Mine. Work so far has outlined 15 separate mineralized zones within two large north-south parallel areas of surface enrichment up to 3,000 metres long. So far only about 30% of these areas have been drill tested.
The resource estimate will include zones previously described as Subriso Central (78.71 grams gold per tonne over 12 metres), Subriso West (7.16 grams over 36 metres), and Subriso East(14.49 grams over 10 metres).
The new core results include:
- Hole 184 – 11.0 metres of 6.11 grams (starting at 66 metres);
- Hole 186 .11.0 metres of 6.42 grams (starting at 120 metres);
- Hole 191 – 7.0 metres of 12.84 grams (starting at 11 metres);
- Hole 198 – 10.7 metres of 5.70 grams (starting at 79 metres);
- Hole 199 – 18.0 metres of 5.76 grams (starting from 145 metres) and including 14.0 metres of 7.17 grams gold.
Hole SJB-199, the deepest diamond drill hole to date tested the ‘G’ zone to 110 vertical metres from surface. The results were a wide high grade intersection that suggests that the grades are increasing with depth and the deposit itself is open at depth.
St. Jude says the ‘G’ zone is shaping up to be the largest individual gold deposit on the Benso property and its adjoining Hwini-Butre concession which contains 562,000 oz. indicated and 374,000 oz. inferred resources.
