Rubicon Acquires New Brunswick properties

Vancouver — Rubicon Minerals (RMX-V) has acquired two properties adjacent to Freewest Canada Resources‘ (FRW-M) recent high-grade gold discovery at the Clarence Stream property in southwestern New Brunswick.

Rubicon has established a 64-claim land position along the southwest and northeast margins of the Freewest claim group.

Freewest recently kicked off a 2,500-metre second phase of drilling on its property. Previous drilling returned gold intercepts of up to 15.06 grams gold over 21 metres in mineralized veined sediments that occur close to the margin of a large granitic body.

Freewest’s Clarence Stream property sits 70 km southwest of Fredericton in an area that has seen little exploration for gold. It is readily accessible from all points in southwestern New Brunswick by a network of provincial roads. A major power line bisects the property. It services the past-producing Mount Pleasant tungsten mine, 8 km to the east, and the village of Rollingdam.

Rubicon says outcrop in the region is poor and most of the area is covered by shallow glacial tills. Based on a four-day property examination, the junior has identified mineralized boulders. They assayed up to 15.1% zinc, 6.9 grams arsenic and anomalous gold up to 0.15 gram per tonne.

Rubicon is reviewing plans for a summer program and is seeking partners to advance exploration on the two properties.
