High Lake drilling continues

Ongoing drilling by junior Wolfden Resources (YWO-V) has extended mineralization in the B zone on the company’s High Lake massive-sulphide deposit in Nunavut, some 45 km from tidewater on the Arctic coast.

Hole 6 encountered mineralization about 30 metres downdip from previous drilling, suggesting that the main mineralized zone was cut off at depth. The hole returned 26.5 metres of 5.3% copper, including 16.6 metres running 7.7% copper.

Hole 7 tested the zone another 70 metres downdip and cut a broad zone of mineralization.

A further 25 metres to the north, hole 8 returned significant mineralization.

Another infill hole, no. 9, intersected B-zone mineralization. The zone remains open at depth and along strike.

Hole 5, a near-surface infill hole at the other end of the deposit, cut 47.6 metres grading 6.52% copper, including 19.1 metres of 10.3% zinc.

The holes are part of a drilling program aimed at expanding the potential of the High Lake deposit, which already ranks as one of the highest-grade undeveloped polymetallic deposits in Canada.

Earlier this summer, drilling was highlighted by:

  • 12.73% copper over 14.35 metres;
  • 14.14% copper over 4.3 metres;
  • 7% copper over 47 metres;
  • 3.13% copper over 54.15 metres; and
  • 8.42% copper over 4.55 metres.

At last report, High Lake hosted a drill-indicated resource of 5.3 million tonnes averaging 4.05% copper, 2.36% zinc, 1.76 grams gold and 31.73 grams silver per tonne.

This resource is contained within the A/B and D zones. Most of it can be mined using open-pit methods.
