Vancouver — Indonesia’s state-owned miner, PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) and PT International Nickel Indonesia (PT Inco) have signed a cooperative resources agreement to develop nickel resources in East Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi.
The agreement follows up on the memorandum of understanding signed by the two companies last year and also marks a requirement by PT Inco under its Contract of Work.
The development of the East Pomalaa nickel deposits will provide mill feed for Antam’s nickel smelting facilities, located 100 km away.
Antam is 65% state-held and PT Inco, which produces nickel from lateritic ores at its integrated mining and processing facilities near Soroako, South Sulawesi, is held 58.7% by Inco (N-T), 20.1% by Japanese-based Sumitomo Metal Mining, 20% by public shareholders and the balance by four other Japanese companies.
