Fronteer-Red Lake cut low-grade

Vancouver A four hole drill program by partners Fronteer Development Group (FRG-V) and Red Lake Resources (RL-V) has returned low-grade gold mineralization from the Swain-Sol D’Or property in the Red Lake-Birch Uchi belt of northern Ontario.

The 658 metre program tested gold-arsenic soil geochemical along the 4-km long structural deformation zone marked by geophysics. The first two holes tested the depth extension of mineralization at the Cliff showing, where grab samples yielded up to 5.94 grams gold per tonne. Hole 1 returned 1.91 grams gold over 6 metres, including a 4.5 metre portion running 2.26 grams gold. Hole 2 targetted the down dip extension of this mineralization and cut three mineralized zones grading up to 1.24 gram gold over 2.4 metres.

Moving 2.6 km and 3.0 km northwest, the other two holes tested the strike extension of the gold zone at the Bobarris showing. Hole SW-2 intersected zones of anomalous pyrite-arsenopyrite-gold mineralization in silicified and sericitized felsic volcanics, retuning 0.88 gram gold over 6 metresand 6,264 parts per million arsenic. Hole SW-1 targeted a gold soil geochemistry anomlay along the deformation zone and hit sericite-pyrite altered sheared felsic volcanic rocks, returning 1.5 metres of 1.02 grams gold.

The broad zones of alteration cut in the holes has prompted Fronteer and Red Lake to launch a follow up program aimed at identifying higher grade shoots whithin the broad low grade mineralization.

In addition to the structural zone, the partners have defined a number of other drill-ready targets, including the Beaver Pond prospect, which yielded up to 55 grams gold and 2.1% copper in grab samples.
