Tenke hits gold-silver in Santa Cruz

Vancouver Tenke Mining (TNK-V) is encouraged by high gold and silver grades hit in the first phase of drilling at its El Bagual property in Santa Cruz province, Argentina. The higher grades occur in stockwork-veins in in the northern part of the property while the rock hosting the veins carries disseminated gold and silver.

Highlights of drilling at the Apoyada zone include 1.7 metres grading 37.67 grams gold and 24.86 grams silver over 1.7 metres from a down-hole depth of 49.8 metres, including 0.7 metres averaging 79.2 grams gold and 42.1 grams silver over 0.7 metres in hole EB03.

EB04 into the same target yielded 1.15 metres of 13 grams gold and 9.96 grams silver per tonne from a down-hole depth of 73.75 metres.

The company tested six targets in its latest program of diamond and reverse circulation drilling. Crews drilled twelve holes into the stockwork targets identified by previous geological, geochemical and geophysical surveys that covered a 5-km by 3-km area last year.

The property is underlain by Jurassic volcanics of the El Quemado Formation that host low sulphidation epithermal veins and silica replacement systems. The veins occur as shoots controlled by structures that include fault intersections.

The property is situated at an elevation of 500 metres allowing year round exploration.

Tenke will endeavour to test the extent of the high grade mineralization at La Apoyada in the next phase of drilling this year. The company is refining geological mapping around the main target in an effort to conduct detailed ground mag and induced polarization surveys ahead of the planned drilling.

The Creston Negro target yielded 2.59 grams gold and 7.49 grams silver over 2.15 metres from 92.4 metre depth in EB05, and 5 metres of 1.07 grams gold and 24.6 grams silver from 1.5 metre depth in EB06.

Testing the Invis target at depth yielded 0.22 metres of 2.04 grams gold plus 8.90 grams silver nearly 200 metres down-hole in EB01.
