A 31-hole infill drilling program at the Quimsacocha gold-silver-copper deposit in southern Ecuador has confirmed a high-grade zone near the north end of the deposit.
Owner Iamgold (IMG-T, IAG-N, IGD-A) announced an intersection of 37.2 metres grading 46.1 grams gold, 82.9 grams silver and 1.8% copper in hole IQD-278, near the northern end of the deposit’s main zone. Earlier drill holes in the zone returned gold grades of 17.9 grams per tonne over 25.5 metres and 7.9 grams per tonne over 50.4 metres.
Infill drilling in the middle of the deposit confirmed the width of the saddle-like mineralized zone there. Three holes from the same collar, drilled to the northwest, vertically, and to the southeast, cut 52 to 72 metres of mineralized material, with gold grades in the 3-gram neighbourhood, with minor silver and copper credits.
Other drill holes mainly confirmed earlier results. A resource estimate in October came up with a figure of 22.5 million tonnes grading 3.9 grams gold, 25 grams silver and 0.16% copper based on a cutoff gold grade of 1 gram per tonne.
