Hand to join Fronteer board

The former head of the former Inco, Scott Hand, is slated to join the much smaller Fronteer Development (FRG-T, FRG-X) after a vote is held at the beginning of May.

Hand was both chairman and chief executive of Inco from 2002 until January of this year, when he retired shortly after the CVRD (RIO-N) takeover.

Hand currently serves on the boards of a number of not-for-profit institutions, including the Ontario Heritage Trust.

“Scott brings a remarkable depth of experience, knowledge and contacts from the mining industry, and we are thrilled that he has agreed to stand for election at our next AGM,” Oliver Lennox-King, chairman of Fronteer said in a statement. “We believe that he will make an outstanding contribution to a growing and ever successful company.”

Fronteer is a junior explorer that currently has its major exploration projects in Turkey and Mexico.

But Hands expertise will be well suited to the companys uranium play in Labrador. Hand has extensive experience in dealing with the region and the social aspects of dealing with aboroginal groups — via Incos massive Voiseys Bay project.

Fronteer has a 47.24% interest in Aurora Energy Resources (AXU-T) that holds the Michelin uranium project in Labrador’s Central Mineral Belt. It hosts a measured and indicated resource of 22.2 million contained lbs. of U3O8 and an additional inferred resource of 13.4 million lbs. U3O8.
