No Detour taken between proposed pits

Results from its ongoing drill program at Detour Lake in northern Ontario indicate that gold mineralization runs between Detour Golds (DGC-T) two proposed open pits.

The news made a favourable impression on the market as the Toronto-based company saw its shares gain close to 9% or 52 touching $6.35 on nearly 150,000 shares traded.

Assays are from 11 holes drilled as part of the companys 50,000 metre drill program and Detour says they confirm gold continues to trend along the east-west 200 metre wide corridor running 2.5 km from its West pit to the Calcite Zone its two known deposits.

While the project currently has a near surface indicated resource of 1.4 million oz. — 20 million tonnes grading 2.14 grams gold — and another 2 million oz. in the inferred category — 35.4 million tonnes grading 1.8 grams gold, Detour says the latest results will likely add to that when a resource update is issued in September.

Seven holes were drilled in the waste portion of the West Pits pit shell. Highlights include:

• Hole DG-07-38 — 1.47 grams gold over 65 metres
• Hole DG- 07-21 — 2.23 grams gold over 19 metres and 1.78 grams gold over 32 metres
• Hole DG-07-36 — 5.05 grams gold over 8 metres

Three holes were drilled between the West and Calcite pit shells, highlights include:

• Hole DG-07-44 — 5.53 grams gold over 13 metres, 5.83 grams over 5 metres, 79.92 grams over 9 metres, and 2.77 grams over 18 metres
• Hole DG-07-24 — 15.27 grams gold over 7 metres and 2.36 grams over 22 metres

One hole was drilled within the Calcite Zone and it returned 2.59 grams gold over 19 metres.

Gold mineralization within the corridor consists of multiple, sub-vertical zones between 5 and 25 metres wide with grades ranging between 1 and 3 grams gold, Detour says, with higher grade gold characterized by potassic alteration, and an increased percentage of sulphide minerals and quartz veining.

The company says mineralization is open west of the Calcite zone.

Four rigs are now turning at the site and in all 124 holes for 45,065 metres have been dug.

Detour plans to have the drill program finished by the end of June after which it will start its feasibility study.

The project is located in the area of the former Detour Lake mine, which produced 1.8 million oz. from 1983 to 1999.
