Seabee miner found dead

Gold miner Corey Braaten, trapped since May 29 in the Seabee gold mine in northern Saskatchewan, has been found dead.

Claude Resources (CRJ-T, CGR-X) made a brief announcement this morning that the miner had been located around 3 a.m. local time. Crews had been advancing a drive from an open working on the mine’s 800-metre level to reach the area where Braaten had been working. Access to the area had been cut off by broken rock in the drift that led to it.

Braaten was 29 years old and his wife in Birch Hills, Sask., was expecting their first child.
