Cambior expands Omai gold mine

Definition drilling has enabled Cambior (TSE) and Golden Star Resources (TSE) to boost proven and probable reserves by 13.9 million grams at the Omai gold mine in Guyana.

The new material, consisting of 8.2 million tonnes averaging 1.6 grams per tonne, was delineated in the eastern part of the Wenot pit.

Total in situ reserves now exceed 93.3 million grams (or more than 3 million oz.), which is 13% higher than the previous

estimate, in late 1994, and 62% higher than the estimate

contained in the 1990 feasibility study.

Exploration drilling is being carried out on a 1.2-km-long

geochemical anomaly in the western part of the Wenot pit, as well as in areas around the Fennell pit.
