Encouraging metallurgical test results are reported from Ecuadorian Minerals’ (TSE) Gaby gold deposit in southern Ecuador. Conventional milling methods were found to be sufficient for the mostly sulphide ore.
Based on agitation leach tests from 44 sulphide ore samples, the average weighted gold recovery is 81%. The average grade of the samples was 0.043 oz. gold per ton.
The samples were ground to about 100 mesh and leached for 24 hours, with 1.4 lb. of sodium cyanide consumed per ton. Pretreatment with aeration increased gold recovery by as much as 4% and reduced cyanide consumption on eight of the samples.
Similar agitation leach tests were conducted on 47 samples of oxide and oxide/sulphide ore, which had an average grade of 0.033 oz. The average recovery over a 24-hour period was found to be 87%, with
the same amount of sodium cyanide.
Geologic mapping, sampling and trenching are continuing, and more drilling is targeted for the Guadalupe area and west of the known deposit.
Meanwhile, the company has been approached by several majors from whom it is entertaining offers.
