Cayman Islands-based Challenger Minerals (VSE) expects to be granted a licence covering a 400-sq.-km concession in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
The Tafogo area lies between the Bouroum property of Channel Resources (TSE) to the northwest and the Taparko concession of High River Gold Mines (TSE) to the east.
This gold-bearing region is underlain by Birimian Formation volcanics and contains numerous shallow surface workings.
Upon the formal granting of the licence, which is subject to final signature by Burkina Faso’s minister of mines, Challenger plans to begin a $200,000 program of reconnaissance geochemistry. This will be followed by $300,000 worth of trenching to test targets on the concession.
