LABRADOR NEWS ROUNDUP — Anomaly may relate to graphite

Preliminary field work is under way on ground held jointly by United Compass Resources (VSE) and Layfield Resources (VSE).

The property, situated 40 km northwest of the Voisey Bay discovery in Labrador, is the site of a previously reported broad electromagnetic conductor. The conductor may be related to the occurrence of disseminated graphite flakes in gneissic rocks. The strong magnetic anomaly which coincides with the conductor remains unexplained. A second, coincident magnetic-electromagnetic anomaly in the southern portion of the claims has yet to be evaluated.

Meanwhile, work on the joint venture’s southern claim block, 20 km south of Voisey Bay, has turned up sulphide mineralization. Samples have been sent for assaying.
