Exploration work at the Finlayson project in the central Yukon is well under way.
Owner Expatriate Resources (VSE) is searching for a volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit in an area underlain by large tracts of the same metavolcanic stratigraphy that produced both Cominco’s Kudz ze Kayah and Westmin/Atna’s Wolverine discoveries.
Grid soil geochemical surveys, geological mapping and prospecting are in progress on five primary targets identified by geological and geochemical data dating back to 1973.
None of the targets has been drilled or trenched in the past, and the company is now planning ground geophysical surveys.
Recent sampling on an exposed area of mineralized talus returned values of up to 17.6% zinc, 5.38% lead and 2.64% copper, as well as 230 grams silver and 0.17 gram gold per tonne in a muscovite schist.
Assays are pending from mineralized showings on two of the company’s other claims in the area.
Expatriate expects to continue ground work until mid-October. An airborne geophysical survey will be flown in November and the company expects to have drill targets outlined by early 1996.
