DIAMOND NEWS ROUNDUP — Trade Winds drills Drybones

Exploration drilling is under way at the Drybones Bay property, 50 km south of Yellowknife, N.W.T.

Trade Winds Resources (VSE), which holds an option to earn an 80% interest in the property, intends to recover 10-15 tons of kimberlite from the Drybones Bay pipe for processing in a dense media separation plant. Only diamonds larger than 1 mm in diameter will be recovered.

Hole 96-10, the first completed hole of this year’s program, drilled an area near the southeastern edge of the pipe. It intersected 100 metres of kimberlite before penetrating granite at 205 metres.

Based on the processing to date of 421 kg, a preliminary grade is estimated at 0.087 carat per ton. The pipe measures 30 hectares in surface area.
