Happy Valley conference focused on Voisey’s Bay

A mining conference and trade exhibition, entitled “Voisey’s Bay and Beyond,” was held recently in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador.

This year marked the introduction of the conference, which drew 318 attendants, although the trade show, which attracted 502 exhibitors, was held last year.

In his keynote address, Inco President Michael Sopko said he anticipates his company’s deal with Diamond Fields Resources for the huge Voisey’s Bay nickel-copper-cobalt deposit will succeed despite a legal dispute with Texas-based Exdiam.

The conference featured geological and exploration updates, given by both government and corporate representatives, of the various sites in and around Voisey’s Bay. The conference also included discussions on native business arrangements.
