Fairstar Explorations takes over the Fenelon gold property in Quebec

The Fenelon gold property in the Casa Berardi area of northwestern Quebec is now in the hands of Fairstar Explorations (FFR-M).

The company increased its interest to 54% from 45%, making it the majority owner and operator.

The deposit represents the first significant gold discovery on the eastern extension of the Detour Lake break since the Detour Lake mine started production in 1983.

The best intersections from drilling on the Main zone at the Fenelon project include: 13.9 metres grading 14.24 grams gold per tonne; 7.2 metres of 9.78 grams; 6.8 metres of 13.74 grams; 5.6 metres of 89.55 grams; and 7 metres of 37.48 grams.

In the 1996-1997 season, Fairstar will step up exploration of the Main zone, starting with a seismic refraction survey. The survey is intended to define the thickness and nature of the overburden so that bulk sampling can be carried out. Infill drilling is also planned.
