The Newfoundland branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM) will host its annual meeting from Nov. 7 to 9 at the Delta Hotel in St. John’s.
Entitled “Mineral Development in Newfoundland and Labrador — World Leader into the next Millennium,” the meeting will examine Voisey’s Bay and other recent developments in the province’s mining industry.
In addition to the general session, the meeting will feature technical programs regarding the province’s geology, exploration and current mining operations.
Among those scheduled to speak at the meeting are: Albert Chislett, president of Archean Resources; Steward Gendron, president of Voisey’s Bay Nickel Company; and J.S. McAlpine, general manager of Richmont Mines.
The technical sessions will include overviews of such projects as Ming Minerals’ Rambler gold-copper operation and Noranda’s Long Lake deposit.
