Women’s Association celebrates 75 years

The Women’s Association of the Mining Industry of Canada (WAMC) will commemorate its 75th anniversary with a dinner and dance in the Vanity Fair Ballroom at Toronto’s King Edward Hotel on Nov. 15.

WAMC was started up in 1921 as a social organization for women in the industry and, by 1964, had evolved into a charitable foundation. Today, the association sponsors scholarships and bursaries at technical colleges and universities across Canada, and makes donations to various charities.

WAMC also helps organize the annual conventions of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum, the Geologists Association of Canada and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada.
