Regions of Greenland subjected to geophysical surveys

An area in eastern Greenland has been targeted for regional magnetic and aeromagnetic mapping.

The surveys, to be flown next summer, will test targets and structures near Constable Pynt and Mestersvig. They are part of a 5-year program designed to promote interest in mineral exploration in the country. Since 1994, similar surveys have been flown over Inglefield Land in the northwest, the Maniitsoq-Nuuk region and five smaller areas in the southwest.

Next year, the government will fund an aeromagnetic survey over the Disko Bay area of Greenland.

Both projects will be managed by the Danish ministry of energy and the environment.
