The Women’s Association of the Mining Industry in Canada (WAMIC) recently celebrated its 75th anniversary at Toronto’s King Edward Hotel.
Attended by 400 people from all sectors of the mining industry, the gala featured the accomplishments of Canadian women in the industry, as well as a showcase of significant Canadian mineral discoveries. The event was sponsored by various mining companies.
Formed in 1921 as a social organization for women in the industry, the association grew into a charitable foundation by the early 1960s.
WAMIC currently sponsors bursaries and scholarships at universities and technical colleges across Canada.
