Manhattan’s Morris mine approaches full capacity

The Morris gold-silver mine in Mexico’s Chihuahua state is expected to reach commercial production in the second quarter, reports Manhattan Minerals (MAN-T).

During the first quarter, the mine yielded 3,781 oz. gold and 10,547 oz.

silver from 132,944 tonnes grading 2.1 grams gold per tonne.

For all of 1997, gold production is expected to exceed 30,000 oz. at a cash operating cost of US$183 per oz.

Manhattan recently purchased US$3 million worth of mining equipment for the open-pit, heap-leach operation.

Minable reserves exceed 5.3 million tons grading 0.059 oz. gold, with a geological resource estimated at 8.3 million tons grading 0.054 oz. gold.
