GLOBAL SEARCH FOR GOLD — Golden Knight tests projects in West Africa

The gold potential of West Africa continues to lure Golden Knight Resources (GKR-T), a Vancouver-based company with interests in 14 projects in Ghana and Burkina Faso.

The company released results from the latest round of drilling at the Mpesetia concession in Ghana. The best values, obtained from infill drilling of parallel gold zones at the Mpesetia mine, include: 10 metres grading 8.2 grams gold per tonne; 34 metres of 2.74 grams; 10 metres of 2.84 grams; 32 metres of 1.78 grams; 38 metres of 2.29 grams; 12 metres of 5.92 grams; and 22 metres of 1.71 grams.

The Mpesetia project is a 50-50 joint venture with Leo Shield Exploration of Australia. The partners completed 115 holes totalling 6,518 metres, which tested three areas of shear-hosted gold mineralization.

At its 90%-owned Sequenega concession in Burkina Faso, Golden Knight drilled 32 holes totalling 2,490 metres. Selected results include: 10 metres of 8.2 grams; 34 metres of 2.74 grams; 10 metres of 2.6 grams; 12 metres of 1 gram; 14 metres of 4.48 grams; 32 metres of 1.78 grams; 38 metres of 2.29 grams; and 12 metres of 5.92 grams.

Further work on both the Seguenega and Monlouri concessions will include geophysics, soil sampling and trenching. Drilling is expected to resume in October.

Golden Knight’s most advanced project in Africa is the Tarkwa concession in Ghana, in which it holds a 17.5% interest. Gold production from surface mining is expected to start in early 1998.
