Alta pours gold at Griffon

Alta Gold (ALTA-Q) has poured its first gold at the Griffon heap-leach mine in Nevada’s White Pine Cty.

When development began in July, reserves were deemed sufficient for only two years of mining. However, these have since been increased by 40% to about 100,000 oz. Grade and tonnage figures were not calculated by the company.

In other news, the company has acquired the Lookout Mountain gold project, south of Eureka, Nev., from Echo Bay Mines (ECO-X).

The 4,500-acre property comprises six separate deposits. Mineralization extends from the surface to a depth of nearly 700 ft. over a strike length of 2 miles.

At the same time, Alta is awaiting environmental permits for the Olinghouse deposit, near Reno. Plans call for construction to commence in May, with the first gold pour earmarked for August.
