Montreal-based Normabec Mining Resources (NMB-M) is gearing up for exploration at its Mina Eureka gold-copper property in Argentina following the completion of a favorable preliminary evaluation by an independent consultant.
Corporacion Nacional del Cobre Chile (Codelco) reports that the near-surface resource at Mina Eureka is 2 million tonnes grading 2% copper.
That resource is partially exposed in the southeastern portion of the property, and covers an area measuring 1,000 metres by 600 metres.
Mineralization is in the form of tenorite, cuprite, native copper, malachite, azurite and atacamite.
Normabec has not explored for gold at Mina Eureka, but reports that a previous operator identified a potential resource of 600,000 tonnes grading 2.7 grams gold per tonne. Gold mineralization on the property is described as having originated from the erosion of Ordovician sediments. Situated in Jujuy province, in northwestern Argentina, the property comprises 17 permits covering 18,500 ha.
