Lihir mine showcased at next CIM luncheon

The Lihir gold mine in Papua New Guinea will be the subject of an April 16 luncheon organized by the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

The guest speaker at the luncheon, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Ontario Club in downtown Toronto, will be Lihir Gold CEO John O’Reilly. He plans to use slides and a video of the mine to demonstrate its characteristics and to provide the audience with a feel for the island of Lihir.

O’Reilly has more than 30 years of experience in the mining industry, including senior positions at operations in Zambia, Botswana, Iran and Oman.
