Oroperu Resources (OROP-C) has reported encouraging operating results from its recently acquired Nueva Condor polymetallic mine, near Lima, Peru.
The operation entered production in early 1998 and earned US$613,032 in the first quarter. More than 11,000 tonnes of ore were mined and processed during the period, yielding 587 tonnes of lead concentrate, 837 tonnes of zinc concentrate, 1,029 oz. gold and 50,800 oz. silver. Operating costs amounted to US$484,586.
Management is considering ways to raise productivity nearer to the plant’s capacity of 250 tonnes per day (22,500 tonnes per quarter). Preliminary production figures in excess of 5,000 and 6,000 tonnes for April and May, respectively, already indicate significant increases over the first quarter.
