NEVADA AND THE WESTERN STATES — Drilling progresses for AMT

AMT International Mining (AAI-T) is looking to expand known copper reserves at the Copper Creek property in southern Arizona.

Copper Creek is a 50-50 joint venture with BHP Copper, a unit of Broken Hill Proprietary (BHP-N).

AMT has been drilling the property since February. The first phase, more than half of which is complete, has been designed to expand areas of known mineralization, while the second phase, scheduled for later in the summer, will tighten up the drill spacing for reserve calculations.

Currently, the company has two rigs on site operating 24 hours a day. So far, 11 holes have been completed, though assays values are in for only seven of the holes.

AMT drilled eight of the holes into the Globe-Glory Hole breccia complex. In hole G-6, the company intercepted 180 ft. of mineralization grading 1.12% copper, starting at a depth of 100 ft. Hole G-8 encountered 100 ft. grading 0.63% copper, starting a depth of 20 ft.

AMT has since moved one of the drilling rigs to the Copper Giant prospect, the largest-known breccia body on the property. The first hole drilled 395 ft. of chalcopyrite-rich material, starting near the surface, but assay results are not yet in.

The second rig is finishing up at the Marsha breccia prospect. The first hole drilled here intersected 210 ft. grading 0.78% copper-equivalent (including molybdenum values), starting at a depth of 120 ft. It contained coarse-grained molybdenite, as well as chalcopyrite and native copper.

AMT has completed one hole at the West Creek breccia target, a coincident geochemical and low-magnetic anomaly, and plans to finish one more. The drill rig will then be moved to the State breccia target.

In all, the company plans 22,000 ft. of drilling. It is also in the process of compiling geophysical, sampling and detailed geological information into a new database. The work has enabled the company to increase the number of breccia targets on the Copper Creek property.

Based on a feasibility study completed last October, Copper Creek holds reserves of 11.4 million tons grading 1.3% copper, plus resources totalling 300 million tons grading 0.75% copper.
