All aspects of uranium mining and nuclear power will be discussed at the 1998 World Uranium Mining Congress, set for June 22-23 at Toronto’s Delta Chelsea Inn.
The event is being organized by AIC Worldwide and the Uranium Information Centre and endorsed by the Canadian Nuclear Society and the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA).
As chairman of the congress, CNA President Murray Stewart will open the 2-day gathering. His remarks will be followed by discussion of world energy demand, nuclear power and sustainable development, the implications of the Asian economic crisis, social and political aspects of uranium mining, planned uranium projects and financing of uranium exploration and prospective mines.
Companies and organizations making presentations at the congress include the Uranium Institute, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, World Wide Minerals, Anaconda Uranium, Heathgate Resources and Southern Cross Resources.
Representatives from atomic agencies in the U.S, Canada, Sweden and Australia will also make presentations.
In conjunction with the congress, a full-day site tour of Cogema Resources’ McClean Lake uranium project in Saskatchewan is being offered. The visit, which can be booked separately, includes return airfares from Toronto to Saskatoon, Sask., two nights’ accommodation in Saskatoon, a return air charter to Points North Landing and a return bus trip to McClean Lake.
