The initial target of the current program is Anomaly A, an untested mafic-to-ultramafic intrusion enclosed with paragneisses, some 3 km from the original discovery. Anomaly A is described as twice the size as the Lac Rocher discovery anomaly.
Nuinsco has increased its holdings in the region to 633 contiguous claims totalling more than 100 sq. km.
Although mapping was hampered by the low, swampy terrain, several magnetic anomalies with coincident electromagnetic conductors were outlined. These targets will be tested either by trenching or drilling; in the meantime, reconnaissance work will continue.
Nuinsco drilled its original nickel discovery earlier this year. However, results proved disappointing, prompting the company to explore other targets on its land package.
