Trivalence drills Aredor pipe

Drilling at the Aredor concession in Guinea has intersected diamond-bearing kimberlite for Trivalence Mining (TMI-C).

Holes 21 and 23 yielded a combined 70 macrodiamonds (a macro is here defined as measuring more than 0.5 mm in one direction). The three largest stones weighed 0.3, 0.1 and 0.06 carat.

Twenty-seven holes have now traced the K23 kimberlite for 309 metres in a northwesterly direction and 120 metres in a northeasterly direction, to a depth of 77 metres.

Hole 13 yielded 11 macros, of which the eight largest had a combined weight of 0.033 carat.

The K23 pipe remains open to the west and at depth and lies 1.1 km upstream from the BAI-4 alluvial block — one of six being mined. The BAI-4 hosts 312,569 tonnes grading 0.11 carat per tonne.

Drilling will resume in January as part of a bulk-sampling program.

Trivalence has an 85% interest in the 1,012-sq.-km property, where it has collected more than 40,000 carats since 1996. In the third quarter of 1999, the company recovered 7,933 stones weighing 8,557.03 carats, and, of those, 7,608.4 carats were sold at an average price of US$383.51 per carat.
