At the Aventurero zone, two of three holes returned 15.2 metres (from 61 to 76.2 metres down-hole) averaging 5.2 grams gold and 110 grams silver per tonne and 4.6 metres (71.6-76.2 metres) grading 1.8 grams gold and 66 grams silver. The third, hole 208, failed to return any significant results; however, the results from holes 206 and 207 are similar to those obtained earlier in holes 157 and 184.
Mapping has traced the Aventurero zone for 1 km along surface, and half of that length was tested by means of geochemistry or drilling. Drilling suggests that mineralization is open at depth.
Also, one hole drilled in each of the La Estrella and Belen areas returned low values, similar to earlier holes. Hole 209, collared at the former, cut 36.5 metres (starting at surface) averaging 0.5 gram gold, whereas hole 210 averaged 0.2 gram gold and 80 grams silver over 6.1 metres (starting at 235.6 metres).
The Belen zone lies 600 metres south of Aventuerero, whereas La Estrella is on the western portion of the property.
Since becoming involved at Ocampo in January 1999, Gammon has raised more than $10 million and has turned the district into one of the most active exploration camps in Mexico. More than 25,000 metres of core and reverse-ciculation (RC) drilling have been completed, adding to 6,300 metres drilled by a previous operator.
Drilling has focussed on Plaza de Gallos and Refugio, two of several deposits that were mined intermittently by various interests since 1804 (T.N.M., Dec. 3/00). A resource calculation is under way for these and other deposits that have been drill-tested.
