More funding for OPA

The Ontario government will provide more than $3 million, through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), to finish restructuring the Ontario Prospectors Association (OPA).

In November 2000, the province provided almost $1 million as the first phase of a $4-million investment. The second, and last, phase of this funding is designed to enhance the OPA’s ability to attact investment for grassroots exploration.

“Our association will provide a unified voice for the grassroots exploration sector,” says OPA Executive-Director Garry Clark.

Since October 1996, NOHFC has contributed nearly $290 million to some 840 projects, generating an additional $749 million from project partners. These projects have created more than 12,000 jobs in northern Ontario.
