Trend Mining gets Lake Owen

Idaho-based junior Trend Mining (TRDM-O) has completed an earn-in on the Lake Owen property in Wyoming, taking over a 100% interest from General Minerals (GNM-T).

The property, in in southeastern Wyoming’s Albany Cty., hosts a large mafic intrusive complex believed to be similar to the layered intrusion at Stillwater, Mont. The Stillwater complex hosts the large platinum-palladium mine operated by Stillwater Mining (SWC-N).

Shallow drilling on the Lake Owen property between 1983 and 1992 intersected four zones of “anomalous” concentrations of platinum group metals, grading up to 4 grams platinum group metals per tonne. One zone has been traced for 10 km along strike.

An option agreement between Trend and General Minerals in October 1999 gave General Minerals 845,934 shares in Trend and obliged Trend to spend US$750,000 on exploration over three years. The work commitment was not completed, and General Minerals has accepted 1.1 million shares of Trend in lieu of the option requirement.
