LionOre receives Golden Gecko

LionOre Mining International’s 80%-owned Australian-listed subsidiary, LionOre Australia (Nickel), has won Western Australia’s Golden Gecko environmental award.

The award recognized LionOre Nickel’s work at the Emily Ann nickel mine, 140 km west of Norseman. The mine was commissioned last year and completed its ramp-up to full production during the second quarter of 2002.

The awards were established by the Western Australian Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.

The award was also presented to Alcoa Aluminum and the Esperance Port Authority in Western Australia.

LionOre is based in Toronto.
