U.S. gold production may approach the 3-million-oz mark in 1986, according to a study from the Metals Economics Group of Boulder, Colo.
Production in 1985 is estimated at 2.1 million oz, with average cash costs of $215 per oz.
The 370-page A Study of Active U.S. Gold Mines profiles 48 current producers and another 15 projects scheduled for 1986 start-up. Each project profile contains information on location, ownership, geology, reserves exploration and production histories as well as current production costs. An analytical section compares production, reserves, cost and recovery data for U.S. producers.
