Aunor Res. reports low grade gold

Aunore Resources has announced the first results of exploration programs on its Puiseaux properties in the Casa Berardi area and its Hebecourt property northwest of Rouyn- Noranda.

In a small drill program to test ground conductor zones on the Puiseaux properties, all three holes encountered low grade mineralization. Associated principally with sulphide veins, the three best intersections gave gold results of 0.019 oz per ton over 9.1 ft, 0.015 oz over 13 ft and 0.02 oz over 17.5 ft in a 42-ft zone.

“Although the gold values are not of commercial grade,” says President Daniel Hadekel, “the findings show that the conductors indicated by geophysical surveys have clearly anomalous gold content and considerable strike length.” Later this year, he says, Aunore plans additional drilling on these and other conductor zones indicated on the properties.

On its large Hebecourt property, Aunore had carried out extensive ground geophysics on three geologically favorable sites in 1985. This summer Aunore has been conducting a detailed mapping program in these three zones.

“Preliminary results of mapping and sampling show zones of alteration, shearing and quartz veining, usually with sulphide mineralization,” says Mr Hadekel. “Analysis from alteration zones show up to 4.46% copper and .86% nickel. Two quartz veins, followed for 150 m and 100 m, gave up to 12.83% copper and 3.03 oz silver per ton while the other yielded 3.23% copper, 1.46 oz silver and 0.05 oz gold per ton. We expect analyses from an extensive altered shear zone soon.”

For the remainder of 1986 Aunore plans to carry out follow-up geophysics and diamond drilling to test some of the most promising targets. Meanwhile the feasibility study from the company’s property near Evain, Que., is progressing, Aunore says.
