American Platinum assays platinum at Lac des Iles

Platinum and palladium mineralization has been assayed on ground tyi ng on to the eastern boundary of the Madeleine Mines platinum-palladium Roby deposit in the Lac des Iles area, north of Thunder Bay, Ont.

Controlled by American Platinum Inc., the 15-claim Angle Bay property straddles the eastern extension of favorable geology striking from the Roby deposit. Preliminary prospecting by American Platinum has yielded grab samples from mineralized outcrops near Lac des Iles, grading up to 0.17 combined platinum group metals (PGM).

Another sample assayed 0.11 oz PGM per ton. The samples come from a pegmatitic gabbro breccia unit containing up to 3% sulphides. Platinum mineralization in the Roby deposit to the west, is closely associated wth net-textured copper- nickel sulphide mineralization.

An airborne geophysical survey has also been completed over the 15-claim property. Preliminary work has also been performed on the 125-claim property which protects the entire southern extension of the Lac des Iles intrusive which ties on to the southern boundary of the Madeleine Mines property. A diamond drilling program is being planned which will test several of the mineralized zones on the 15-claim property. Follow-up geological and geophysical work is also planned for the 125 claims to the south.
