New zone holds promise Three drills, 30,000 ft program Storimin-

Two new gold zones have been encountered by Storimin Exploration on its joint venture with Tandem Resources at Moss Lake, 70 miles west of Thunder Bay in northwestern Ontario.

Thirty holes totalling 15,000 ft have been completed so far in the drilling program, temporarily interrupted by the freeze-up. Twenty six of these have been put down on a promising-looking structure that has been traced for 800 ft. Gold values average better than 0.20 oz across 8 ft. It has been traced for 400 ft and remains open at both ends and to depth. The two most recent holes, at the north and south ends, returned 17 ft of 0.26 oz and 18 ft of the same grade.

Drilling will resume the first week in January with three machines, A. E. Story, Storimin’s president, tells The Northern Miner. Plans call for 30,000 ft, most of which will be from the ice of Snodgrass Lake, and completed by the end of March.

A secondary zone has been discovered parallel and 250 ft northwest of the above zone. Three holes here have returned intersections averaging 0.14 oz across 5 ft. A fourth hole, 600 ft along the apparent strike to test a geophysical anomaly, cut 5 ft grading 0.l5 oz. Considerable geophysics and drilling will be required to outline this zone, Mr Story says, pointing out that none of the recent work takes into account the work on nearby showings carried out 10 years ago by previous owners which found in excess of 100,000 tons of potential ore.

The Storimin-Tandem findings have drawn new interest to the area, with considerable staking in all directions. Several of the larger mining companies have now taken up blocks of ground, with word of at least three new discoveries in the area.
