Additional drilling is slated in l988 on Faraway Gold Mines’ Sam claim group near Equity Silver’s mine southeast of Houston, B.C.
Preliminary results from a $500,000 program carried out this year, including 20,000 ft of drilling have been encouraging (N.M., Nov 9/87). An additional $1.5 million has been slated for geophysical and soil geochemical surveys and up to 30,000 ft of drilling in 1988.
Of this, some 10,000 ft of drilling will be directed on the newly staked contiguous l,400 claims. Faraway now holds 100% of approximately 2,200 acres in the area.
Equity Silver, the project operator, has drilled 29 holes to date, which have roughly outlined a 100- to 150-ft-wide sulphide zone in the southeastern part of the property, and a 580-ft-wide alteration zone in the northwest. Both zones consist of numerous relatively narrow pyrite-rich sections with values up to 20.1 oz silver per ton, 9.5% zinc, and l.l% copper in the East zone; and 3.49 oz silver per ton, 7.9% zinc and 0.04% copper in the West zone.
