Estimates of Canada’s uranium resources have increased significantly over the past two years, according to Energy, Mines and Resources Canada. New discoveries more than make up for the 25,300 tons of uranium produced during 1985 and 1986. At the end of 1986, total known resources (measured, indicated and inferred) were estimated at 623,700 tons, an increase over the 606,100 tons reported for 1984, the year of the last full assessment. The greatest change since 1984 is a 30% increase in measured resources, largely the result of the ongoing delineation of recently discovered deposits in northern Saskatchewan.
