50 Years Ago January, 1938 REFINED ANTIMONY TO BE PRODUCED

The first commercial production of refined antimony in Canada will take place within the next few months. The metal will be produced by Consolidated Mining & Smelting Co. of Canada in its antimony refinery at Trail, B.C., the erection of which is nearing completion.

Antimony ores and refined antimony were produced intermittently in small lots in the Maritime provinces for several years prior to 1917.

The plant at Trail will treat flue dust residues from the company’s silver refinery. Expectations are that more than 1,400 tons of refined antimony a year will be produced.
