Power Expllorations plans to complete approximately 100,000 ft of diamond drilling by year-end. The large program, scheduled to begin in August, will test several properties held by the company in Ontario.
At the company’s gold projects near Dryden, Ont., drilling will focus on a section of the Kidd zone from which Power cut a 24.8-ft section grading 0.26 oz gold per ton. The section comes from an area below an old shaft on the property, President Harry Hodge says. Power plans to continue testing the zone on 50-ft stepouts. Two of these holes have been completed and all have hit the main zone. Assays are expected shortly.
Ground geophysical work suggests the zone strikes for at least 2,500 ft. Pending favorable drill results from this year’s program, Power will consider dewatering the shaft and conducting underground exploration. A decline ramp will also be considered for this winter. Van Horne Gold Exploration is an equal partner on the Dryden project.
A large portion of this season’s drill budget is marked for the Pickle-Opapimiskan Lakes area, Ont. Power has 12 properties in these two camps. The company has also acquired another 500,000 shares of Canadian Futurity Oils, boosting its interest in that company to 13.2%.
