A drilling program is under way by Vior Inc. on the Matagami property in northwestern Quebec. Also, the company this month initiated, in partnership with Mazarin Inc., a drilling program on the Sheffor property situated 30 km northwest of Schefferville.
The company reports that on the Douay property in Quebec’s Casa Berardi area, Inco Ltd. has begun a drilling program to check on the in-depth extension of the gold deposit and on the lateral extension of a new gold-bearing zone discovered near the deposit. Vior is earning a 35% interest in the property with partners Inco and soquem.
On the Ligneris property in northwestern Quebec, Sigma Mines continues its exploration work. Sigma is earning a 50% interest in the property.
In other news, Virginia Gold Mines, a Vior subsidy active in the United States, has concluded a deal with Cambior Inc. whereby Cambior may earn a 50% interest in a Virginia Gold property by buying 400,000 shares of Virginia Gold at 50 cents per share and by spending $2 million on exploration and development work.
Also, Dufresnoy Mineral Exploration, in which Vior has a 33% interest, reports it has completed an evaluation of the New Bidlamaque and Union Mining properties, which are located in the Val d’Or mining camp. Proposals from two major companies interested in participation in the properties are being reviewed.
