It has been quite some time since we last commented in this space on the somewhat remarkable — and certainly appreciated — flow of contributions we have had to our Odds ‘n’ Sods column, now carried regularly on this page.
They continue to come from a fascinating variety of people, not only in Canada but from outside the country as well. They include professionals, (mining engineers, geologists), prospectors, miners, and people just plain interested in the mining industry and eager to express their views of it, and their experiences in it. Just last week for instance we had a column from a man who worked in mining, later became a church minister, and loved them both.
What is also impressive is how frequently their stories reach our desk fully formed, well written, and requiring very little of our editorial pencil. They are a delight, a lot of them, to an editor’s eye.
We have just one request. It would be a considerable help if future Odds authors were able to send along with their stories, any pictures or other illustrations to go with them. They can add quite a lot to the interest.
