Hardrock plans big drilling program

A 30,000-ft diamond drilling program has been recommended for the Hardrock Extension Inc. property near Geraldton, Ont. The work will follow up encouraging drilling completed last year which resulted in a gold discovery on the 78-claim property.

The discovery has been tested for 200 ft along strike and grades 0.48 oz gold per ton across a 9.2-ft width, Hardrock reports. Financing for the drill program is expected to come from the exercising of outstanding warrants which could raise a total of $2.7 million.

Affiliate company, Geraldton Longlac Gold has started a drill program on its ground immediately east of the Hardrock property. The work will test several gold showings discovered by stripping. The best yielded grab samples grading 0.3 oz gold from quartz veins. Ferau Resources, another affiliate, holds 88 claims adjacent to the eastern border of Geraldton Longlac. Ferau has cut gold values in drilling.

The best hole, No 4, intersected a 6.2-ft section assaying 0.28 oz. The hole appears to confirm drill results received by operators in 1936. At that time, a 350-ft shaft was sunk on the zone. Approximately 1,600-ft east of the old shaft, hole 6 intersected a 25-ft-wide shear zone displaying visible gold. Assays from this hole are expected shortly.
