Corona/Huntington plan development (February 06, 1989)

The project is best known for the spectacular 235-ft interval grading 2.03 oz gold per ton reported last summer, although it was soon clarified the hole was drilled down dip through a shear zone and did not represent true thickness.

According to Stirling McIlveen, president of Huntington, the 1989 development program represents the largest single undertaking to be carried out on the property so far, raising the combined investment by the two companies to about $1.7 million. By virtue of its expenditures to date, Corona owns 51% of the project.

The 2-phase program will include extensive diamond and reverse circulation drilling, directed primarily toward further development of the Main Shear zone. Huntington noted that recent drilling by Brican Resources (VSE) near the boundary of the Brett claims intersected a large shear zone at depth. According to McIlveen, this hole was located about 2,000 ft north of the site of last year’s program and “greatly expands the potential of the Main Shear zone.”

A comprehensive development program budgeted at $661,000 is planned by partners Corona Corp. (TSE) and Huntington Resources (VSE) for the Brett claims located about 25 km west of Vernon, B.C.
